Judy Garland’s mother was a Khao Manee imported to the United States from Thailand. Bringing her diverse genetics, short fur, and dog-like personality into the heritage of our white kittens makes them the ideal pet.
The famous Tamra Maeo, known as the Thai Cat Poems or Treatise of Cats, serves as a breed standard dating back centuries in Thailand.
“In 19th century Siam, there was a tradition of producing treatises on animals that played important roles at the royal court and in monasteries. The breeding of the famous Siamese cats was originally reserved for the royal family. THE WHITE KITTEN PROJECT STORY
We at Companion Cats and Kittens have taken on a new challenge: to make the ideal white and silver kittens. Out kittens are like Ragdolls, with loving personalities, shorter fur and much higher genetic diversity and health.
We first became interested in breeding a small litter of white and silver kittens when we discovered the Khao Manee breed, also originating in Thailand. Khao Manee are so unique and beautiful with the same personality, short fur and health found in Burmese cats, often with blue eyes and pearly white fur.
For genetic diversity, the parents come from different countries and breeds (British Shorthair and Khao Manee)…which dramatically increases the gene pool! We are very grateful to have gotten a gorgeous silver mama cat, Judy Garland, from my friend and cat mentor, Dr. Schar, to create this stunning litter of silver and white kittens. Judy Garland’s mother is a Khao Manee cat imported directly from Thailand. Judy’s father is a British Shorthair.
The father to these babies, Salty, is a British Shorthair, and his parents came from Moldova. In our quest to create the ideal white and silver kittens, we made sure that both parents had shorter fur less likely to shed. We prefer shorter fur and found that a lot of CCK owners really value that too!
Both parents have dog-like personalities and lots of fun antics, but some of their babies (it depends on the kitten) may be a bit more relaxed compared to our Burmese cats. Our Burmese cats can be relentless in their need for pets and cuddles in a way most of my kitten buyers never thought existed in a cat, so we were mindful to create kittens that have a lot of those same qualities with a little more of a relaxed vibe. One of our kitten owners received a beautiful girl from Salty and Judy Garland’s last litter told me she was the most engaging and dog-like cat they have owned. So if you have had a Burmese cat from us, you may think that these kittens are a little more relaxed. If you have not had a Burmese cat from me, you will be very happy to meet such a dog-like cat. It is all comparative based on your experiences.
